• Grisaille (monochrome underpainting)

• Glazing, blending & layering

• Alla prima (wet-on-wet technique)

• Developing your own painting technique

• Contemporary Still Life    -Composition using collage

  • Understanding value, chroma, volume, shape, and depth

• Contemporary Portrait

  • Image synthesis & features

  • Creating a convincing portrait with an interpretative approach

• Contemporary Landscape

  • Warm & cool colors, bee's wax and other paint thickeners

  • Textures

  • Organic & non-organic shapes/colors

• Independent Projects

  • To encourage students to develop their own style, there will be no more structured assignments beyond this point.

  • All projects will be self-directed under the instructor’s supervision.

Feedback

• Group sharing and constructive feedback at the end of each session (last 10 minutes).

• One-on-one feedback available at any time during class.

• Group exhibitions every 6 months with all other studio groups
